Latitude had the privilege of hosting a student intern from St. Cecilia Academy earlier this month. During her internship, Ellie Burke met with a number of Latitude’s clients and consulting attorneys to learn about their legal practices. She even had the opportunity to watch Sean Kirk, a business litigation attorney at Bone McAllester & Norton, argue a motion in a court hearing. Following this court appearance, Ellie sat down with Sean and asked him a few questions.
EB: Why did you choose to be a lawyer?
SK: I saw the movie, A Time to Kill, during my junior year of high school. The story, and the ability to enter a field where you could help and make a positive difference in someone’s life, resonated with me. That’s when I realized I wanted to be a lawyer.
EB: Describe what you do as a lawyer.
SK: I work with my clients to achieve their goals, typically within the context of commercial business matters.
EB: What do you enjoy most about practicing law?
SK: I enjoy helping people and striving to achieve what the client wants. When I’m helping my clients, that’s when I’m the most satisfied.
EB: When do clients typically call you?
SK: I typically like to get involved at the front end of a dispute. I try to resolve the dispute as cost efficiently as possible.
EB: What do you like to do for fun?
SK: I like traveling, going to music and sporting events, and spending time with my family.
