Latitude is excited to announce that Ramin Olson has joined Latitude as Tennessee Market President. The addition of the NYU, UT and Vanderbilt alum comes on the heels of Latitude’s June expansion to Atlanta.
“Leaving a job I loved with a great company like UBS in Switzerland was a very tough decision – my work environment and living situation in Zurich were phenomenal. But I couldn’t pass up the chance to join my friends at Latitude and become a part of their growth story. Everything they do is first class,” said Olson. He will lead Latitude’s Nashville office and work with law firm and corporate clients throughout Tennessee, including legal departments re-locating from other cities.
“We are excited to welcome Ramin back to Nashville. His in-house experience as a securities lawyer at a major global investment bank, at one of Nashville’s leading law firms, and with the US Securities and Exchange Commission gives Ramin a peer-level understanding of the complex needs and high expectations of Latitude’s clients and attorneys,” said Ross Booher, Latitude CEO.
“With our on-going expansion into other states, we needed someone who could lead Latitude in our home market. Ramin has the perfect combination of local connections and global company, large law firm, and government experience,” stated Latitude President Ken Clarke.
Ramin started his corporate and securities law career at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis in Nashville, where he covered a broad array of corporate and tax matters including M&A, securities, and private equity, primarily for healthcare industry clients. He left Waller after several years to move to Washington to serve as an attorney on the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he reviewed public company SEC filings for IPOs, mergers, and current and periodic reports, in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance.
After the SEC, Ramin worked in Nashville as a capital markets attorney at UBS Investment Bank, where he served as in-house underwriter’s counsel on IPOs, follow-ons, block trades, and other public and private equity transactions for the bank’s New York-based Equity Capital Markets Group. He then transferred with UBS to Zurich, Switzerland to assume an in-house counsel role with UBS Global Wealth Management, where he covered cross-border US legal and regulatory matters for the bank’s larger European and Asian offices.
In addition to his federal service at the SEC, Ramin is a veteran of six years’ active duty in the military where he served as an officer in the US Marines, including a combat tour in Afghanistan. During his time in the Marine Corps, Ramin served as a judge advocate and as a civil affairs officer in the US, as a G-5 plans officer in Germany, and deployed to Afghanistan as a civil affairs officer with First Marine Division in Helmand Province. Ramin also spent 14 years as a drilling reservist in the Marine Corps Reserve where he reached the rank of lieutenant colonel and served in numerous roles including as a civil affairs team leader, operations officer, and detachment commander, and as a judge advocate, a foreign area officer, and a G-5 plans officer in units across the US and overseas.
Ramin has a B.A. from Vanderbilt, a J.D. cum laude from the University of Tennessee, and an LL.M. in Tax from NYU. He is conversant in Italian, Farsi and Dari.
“Ramin’s arrival coincides with our broader expansion efforts, including the June launch of our Atlanta office. Ramin embodies Latitude’s commitment to attracting the very best and will do a fantastic job as Latitude’s lead executive for the Tennessee market,” said Latitude EVP Candice Reed.
