Adding Scalable In-House Legal Support with Fractional General Counsel

A growing wealth management firm that had previously relied exclusively on outside counsel needed legal support for a time-sensitive project. While the company wanted to bring the work in-house, it wasn’t ready to commit to a permanent hire. The project required an attorney with deep knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act, Investment Company Act, and related regulatory frameworks who could step in on an interim basis and deliver immediate value.

SOLUTION

Latitude provided a highly credentialed attorney with deep experience in securities law, regulatory compliance, and financial services. A former Am Law 100 litigator and senior staff counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, she also spent more than a decade leading her own firm, advising clients across the fintech, investment, and startup sectors. Her regulatory knowledge and practical experience with fund documents and client agreements made her a strong match for the firm’s needs. To ensure seamless oversight, Latitude also engaged a trusted supervisory attorney.

Initially brought on for a specific project, Latitude’s attorney delivered strategic guidance on fund formation, compliance, and contract negotiation. Impressed by the strength of her contributions, the firm expanded her role to fractional general counsel, where she now supports a wide range of legal responsibilities, including federal regulatory compliance, client documentation, regulatory change analysis, and legal support for business development initiatives.

Months later, the engagement remains active, with the attorney providing consistent support on an as-needed basis.

By leveraging Latitude’s flexible talent model, the firm secured experienced in-house legal support without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire—enabling leadership to stay focused on growth while maintaining confidence in legal and regulatory operations.
