The Atlanta Bar Association has initiated a search for an executive director to continue driving the organization forward as a leader in the Metropolitan Atlanta legal community.

Sought After Qualities
The successful candidate will have a member service mindset, bring enthusiasm and passion for cultivating a
strong rapport with the legal profession, have a can-do attitude when facing challenges large or small, and
possess a vision and leadership style that instills confidence in the staff, the membership, the Boards of the
Association and the Foundation, and external stakeholders such as sister bar associations, law firms, courts, and
other professional, civic, private, and public organizations.

Responsibilities & Duties
GOVERNANCE & BOARD RELATIONS: Works effectively with all officers, executive committees, committees,
section leaders, sections, staff, and all other internal and external stakeholders of the Association and the
Foundation to facilitate the development and execution of strategic goals in compliance with all governing bylaws
and policies. Ensures successful implementation of action plans to meet the evolving needs of a dynamic
21st century voluntary bar association.

FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP: Cultivates and sustains financial resources needed to ensure the long-term financial
health and stability of the Association and Foundation and successfully works with the Treasurer, Finance
Committee, and outside auditors to ensure transparency, accuracy, integrity, and careful monitoring of financial

PROGRAMMING, BUSINESS OPERATIONS & HUMAN RESOURCES: Implements programs to carry out the Association’s and Foundation’s mission and vision, including the planning, staffing and execution of all Association and Foundation events, fundraisers, and membership drives.
Manages the operations of the Association and the Foundation, including the facilities, assets, personnel, books, contracts, records, and accounts. Responsible for marketing, branding and public relations, as well as the development and maintenance of media relations and social media platforms. Oversees information technology, including the management of internal networks, website and equipment.
Responsible for all human resources administration, including developing operational policies and procedures relative to staff and daily operations and accountability for hiring, supervising, disciplining, and managing, all staff in an effective and legally compliant manner.

EXPERIENCE: At least seven years of professional experience as well as substantive work (i.e., paid) and/or leadership (i.e., volunteer) exposure to non-profit administration, budgeting, programming, and staff/volunteer management.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and practices of business administration; fiscal planning and management; association management, structure, and operation; volunteer leadership; employee recruitment, training, and supervision; and computer technology and use.

SKILLS: Oral and written communications; report preparation; personnel recruitment, supervision and training; strong organizational skills including planning, record keeping, program development, and task facilitation; motivational and collaboration skills to maintain and elevate internal and external relationships.

ABILITY TO: Travel occasionally and occasionally work evenings and weekends. Effectively engage staff and volunteers with varied interests and objectives.

EDUCATION: Four-year degree or some combination of sufficient education and relevant experience required.
