Latitude has an exciting opportunity to serve as interim General Counsel for a publicly traded FinTech company. We’re looking for a proven leader who enjoys the challenge of hitting the ground running, collaborating as a critical member of the executive leadership team, supporting the entrepreneurial drive of a fast-growing FinTech company, and building a strong legal department to support the growth.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience, with significant experience in-house including as a general counsel or chief legal officer, and must have experience in the financial services industry, preferably with the alternative payment technology industry. This is an immediate need and can be done remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities of the Remote Interim General Counsel:

  • Manage all legal and regulatory issues, enterprise risk, governance, contractual matters, and strategy
  • Lead and build the legal department, cultivating a strong team to manage legal and regulatory matters for payments platform business
  • Provide counsel as critical member of the executive leadership team 
  • Coordinate with and monitor work of outside legal counsel

Required Qualifications for the Remote Interim General Counsel:

  • 10+ years of sophisticated legal experience in financial services and lending, including experience in payday and other emerging lending platforms
  • Prior experience as a general counsel leading a legal department; it’s a plus if experience representing a company launching new products in the FinTech industry
  • Proven business approach to solving complex legal issues and the capability to partner directly with business leaders strategically
  • Excellent communication and risk-assessment skills, and ability to prioritize multiple demands efficiently
  • Ability to quickly develop relationships, cultivate and provide strong leadership to legal team
  • High integrity and professional ethics
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar
  • Outstanding references

The annualized compensation for this position ranges from $200,000 to $240,000 or more. Pay is based on numerous factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location. In addition to salary, Latitude Engaged Professionals are W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan. Benefits-eligible Latitude employees receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D and professional liability insurance. Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional expense stipend
