Our Family-owned, Multi-state Beverage Distribution client is seeking a skilled Assistant General Counsel for a permanent position in a growing organization. The ideal candidate will possess a broad base of legal experience, with a focus on commercial, corporate, real estate, and regulatory matters. Experience in the alcoholic beverage industry is preferred but not required. In this role, you will work as part of a small, collegial legal team and have hands-on responsibilities for a wide variety of transactional, compliance and organizational matters, working with leadership and across the organization. This role will be based out of the company's offices in Columbus and McDonough, Georgia.

Responsibilities of the Assistant General Counsel:

  • Provide legal advice and support to the company in various areas including commercial transactions, real estate matters, and regulatory compliance
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other legal documents
  • Assist with the management of the company's legal and regulatory matters
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Monitor and analyze changes in relevant laws and regulations, and advise the company accordingly

Requirements for the Assistant General Counsel:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of Georgia
  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in commercial, real estate, and regulatory matters
  • Prior experience in the alcoholic beverage industry is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments and manage multiple priorities
