Latitude is seeking an In-House Environmental Safety Paralegal for an exciting full-time permanent opportunity at an engineering company located near Stamford, CT. Applicants should have at least 5-7 years of experience as a paralegal in an in-house or law firm setting; a familiarity with environmental and safety laws and regulations, health and safety regulatory experience (OSHA), and/or administrative law experience is preferred. The paralegal will be responsible for providing legal support to attorneys in the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Department. Successful candidates will have excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail, as well as exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Responsibilities of the In-House Environmental Safety Paralegal:
Work directly with SHEQ attorneys and business groups on agency compliance inspections and information request, environmental and safety incidents and claims and document review and research projects
Assist with other regulatory compliance matters as needed
Assist in the development of Law Department workflows and procedures, presentations and reporting on current/recent matters training materials related to SHEQ matters
Monitor developments in environmental remediation matters
Utilize and update incident status tool and assist with incident investigations
Liaise with litigation team on SHEQ-related matters
Maintain matter files and analyze administrative enforcement outcomes
Manage matter status and deadlines with SHEQ attorneys
Manage outside counsel budgeting and billing
Maintain and continue to develop shared electronic filing systems
Monitor and utilize new tools to continuously improve efficiency and effective communication
Maintain e-filing systems and paper files
Research historical company information
Coordinate records requests with off-site record center
Requirements for the In-House Environmental Safety Paralegal:
5-7 years of paralegal experience in an in-house or law firm setting
Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program
Familiarity with environmental and safety laws and regulations, health and safety regulatory experience (OSHA), and/or administrative law experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Superior attention to detail, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills
Effective interpersonal and team working skills and an ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, professional staff, and peers

Compensation
Pay: The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $90,000. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
