In-House Counsel - LATAM (Long-Term Contract Engagement in Miami)

Latitude is seeking an attorney with 3+ years of legal experience for an exciting full-time and long-term contract engagement with the Latin America legal department of a global public company. The successful candidate will provide general support with commercial contracts, including franchise, marketing, and advertising agreements, and will also help oversee outside counsel in Latin America on a wide variety of matters from transaction to litigation. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable in-house experience with a major company client.  The ideal candidate will be dual-licensed in Latin America and the US, but candidates licensed only in Latin America will also be considered.  Spanish fluency is a must and proficiency in Portuguese would be a plus.  This is an on-site position in Miami with WFH flexibility one day per week.  Prior experience working at a full-service law firm, a sophisticated boutique firm, or in-house with a mid-to-large size company is strongly preferred.

Requirements of the In-House Counsel – LATAM:
  • 3+ years of sophisticated experience
  • Prior experience working at a full-service law firm, a sophisticated boutique firm, or in-house with a mid-to-large size company
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in a Latin American country (and also in the US would be preferred)
  • Fluency in Spanish is a must; Portuguese proficiency or fluency is a plus
  • LL.M. from a U.S. law school is a plus
  • Outstanding references

Position Details for the In-House Counsel – LATAM:
  • Type of role: Long-Term Contract Engagement (9-12 months)
  • Schedule: Full-time
  • Location: On-site in Miami with WFH flexibility one day per week
  • Compensation: Highly competitive and commensurate with experience, full benefits

Compensation:
 
  1. Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $100,000 to $160,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
  1. Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
