Do you enjoy spending a lot of time every day speaking with attorneys? Are you highly perceptive, naturally curious, and a great listener? Would you like to become a person who your peers rely on for career guidance and who contact you when they are interested in a new role? If so, this may be a great opportunity you.
Latitude is seeking a Director of Legal Recruiting & Placement for our Austin office. This role involves recruiting, vetting, and placing highly successful lawyers with leading in-house legal departments and law firms in Austin, in Texas, and across the country. While this role involves some traditional permanent placement work, such as recruiting for general counsel positions and other permanent in-house and law roles, most of the role involves finding, recruiting, vetting, and directly hiring experienced in-house counsel and law firm attorneys as Latitude W2 employees – Latitude Attorneys – and then placing those attorneys on assignment as interim counsel with Latitude’s legal department and law firm clients nationwide. In addition to conducting in-depth interviews with numerous attorney candidates and their references each week to select and build your bench of Latitude Attorneys, a significant part of this role involves working closely with Latitude Attorneys to discuss potential assignments with them to determine interest and fit, to gathering additional detailed information needed to prepare tailored client proposals, briefing them before and after client interviews, and staying in routine contact with them when they are on assignment with a client to ensure they are thriving. This role also involves routinely drafting candidate proposals to be sent to clients.
Proximity to Austin is preferred but not a dealbreaker. This job can be fully remote but will require occasional in-person meetings and travel, including corporate training and conferences out of state (typically in Nashville). If you prefer to work in-person or hybrid in Austin, that is also an option but not required. The work schedule is fairly flexible—you’ll have the freedom to work how and when that serves you and our clients best. Plus, you’ll be using your law degree in an entrepreneurial role, will be helping place outstanding attorneys in great roles that energize them, and will be providing much needed support to everyone in the law firms and legal departments that Latitude serves. On top of that, you’ll also grow with the business—as Latitude’s Austin business continues to increase, your career opportunities and income will as well.
While this is a flexible, freeing opportunity which can accommodate work from home, it is also a demanding, full-time professional role that requires a high degree of responsiveness, attention to detail, individual initiative and the ability to multi-task. If working in a fast-paced role where you often must work under tight timelines and quickly adapt to changing client and team priorities is energizing to you, then this role may be a great fit. If you have been successful in a corporate law firm or legal department, you will likely find the high level of responsiveness required (including after hours and at times on weekends) are already routine for you.
If this sounds appealing to you, then we hope you apply!
