Latitude is seeking a highly experienced and strategic financial services attorney to join the leadership team of a highly regarded national credit union client in Tampa, Florida, as Vice President of the company’s legal department. This role offers a unique opportunity to roll up your sleeves and shape the legal and compliance team of a premier financial services company.

As the leader of the our client’s legal department, the ideal candidate will be expected to provide expert legal advice on regulatory, compliance, and governance matters impacting the credit union, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing the financial services industry, oversee legal risk management and develop strategies to navigate complex regulatory environments, and collaborate with executive leadership to align legal strategies with organizational goals.

The successful candidate will be expected to have prior experience working with credit unions or banks, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (e.g., loan participations and vendor agreements), handling trust escalations, and advising credit union executives on financial services compliance and regulatory issues. The successful candidate will work closely with credit union team members and the credit union’s CFO.

Candidates must be admitted to practice in Florida and live in Tampa Bay or be willing to relocate to the area—this is an in-office opportunity.  

Minimum Qualifications for the VP, Financial Services Attorney:
  • 8+ years of financial services regulatory and compliance experience
  • Extensive experience in financial services regulation, preferably within the banking or credit union sector
  • Strong experience handling commercial contracts in the financial services space
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations, including the NCUA, CFPB, and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Familiarity with BSA, AML, OFAC, and related financial services regulations
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and provide practical, business-focused solutions
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed and in good standing to practice law in Florida
  • Outstanding references
Position Details of the VP, Financial Services Attorney:

Compensation: 
Pay: The salary range for this position is from $150,000 to $170,000 annually, with an annual bonus of up to 20%.

Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.

Benefits: In addition to pay, a competitive befits package is also provided, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) and generous leave policies.
