Part-Time Commercial Contracts Energy Attorney (Engagement)
Latitude is seeking a Commercial Contracts Attorney with experience in the energy sector to support the lean legal team of a dynamic and fast-growing nuclear energy company. This is a flexible contract role that offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact while working with a collaborative, mission-driven legal department.

The selected attorney will work closely with senior legal team members to manage a high volume of commercial contract work, allowing the internal team to focus on strategic and compliance-driven initiatives. The engagement is expected to start immediately and has the potential to continue on a long-term, ongoing basis for the right candidate.


This is a part-time opportunity (~10–15 hours per week) that may offer some scheduling flexibility. Preference is given to candidates based in the Washington, D.C., or Austin, TX areas, but strong fully remote candidates will also be considered.
The selected attorney will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including:
    • Vendor contracts
    • Power purchase agreements (PPAs)
    • Other commercial contracts supporting energy operations
  • Partner with a small internal legal team to streamline the contract intake and execution process
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy while maintaining open lines of communication with in-house stakeholders
  • Collaborate with leadership to assess and improve internal workflows and compliance practices
Basic Requirements for the Commercial Contracts Energy Attorney:
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of commercial contracts experience, ideally in the energy sector
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and drafting PPAs
  • Strong familiarity with vendor and customer-side commercial contracting in highly regulated industries
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Outstanding professional references
  • Ability to work onsite in D.C. or Austin is preferred; hybrid or fully remote considered for exceptional candidates

Position Details of the Commercial Contracts Energy Attorney:
  • Type of role: In-house Engagement
  • Schedule: Part-time (~10-15 hours/week)
  • Duration: ASAP. Initial 6-month engagement, with the expectation of ongoing, long-term need and the potential for a longer-term relationship based on performance and business needs, upon mutual agreement

Compensation:

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $200,000 to $250,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
