Virginia Debt Collection Attorney (In-House; Remote)

Latitude has an immediate need for a Virginia-based attorney for a part-time engagement position with a commercial debt recovery agency.   The successful candidate will be licensed and in good standing in the state of Virginia and will have some prior experience in debt collection services, either in-house or at a law firm.  This is a fully remote position but the candidate must be located in Virginia in order to attend appearances in person, as necessary. 

Responsibilities of the Debt Collection Attorney:
  • Review filings and complaints seeking recovery of debts
  • Sign off on debt collection filings as a Virginia attorney
  • Attend and represent the company at hearings and/or trials based on debt collection actions
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing to colleagues and clients
Requirements for the Debt Collection Attorney:
  • Prior experience in debt collection services is required – either in-house or at a law firm
  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia and in good standing
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Outstanding references

Compensation:
  • Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $180,000 to $225,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
