Latitude is seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Associate with 3 to 7+ years of experience to join the insurance coverage practice group of a respected law firm client. This is a full-time position with flexibility to be either a permanent hire or a contract-to-permanent engagement, offering the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners while managing complex and impactful matters for insurer clients.

Key Responsibilities for Insurance Coverage Associate (Full-Time, Permanent or Temp-to-Perm):
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of a wide range of insurance policies and prepare comprehensive, well-reasoned coverage opinions tailored to insurer clients, ensuring clarity on liability, exclusions, and policy interpretation under applicable laws.
  • Manage complex insurance coverage litigation from inception to resolution, including declaratory judgment actions, contribution and indemnity disputes, and related proceedings involving multiple parties or jurisdictions.
  • Defend insurance carriers against allegations of bad faith, breach of contract, and extra-contractual liability, leveraging litigation strategy to minimize risk and protect client interests.
  • Draft, review, and respond to complaints, motions, and discovery requests with precision and a strong command of legal writing, ensuring timely and strategic filings throughout the litigation process.
  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation including depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances, while demonstrating professionalism, advocacy, and deep subject-matter knowledge.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to insurer clients by maintaining proactive and ongoing communication, providing clear legal guidance, updates on case developments, and risk assessments throughout the lifecycle of each matter.
  • Effectively manage a diverse caseload independently, while collaborating with partners, associates, and support staff to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality of service in all client engagements.
Qualifications for Insurance Coverage Associate (Full-Time, Permanent or Temp-to-Perm):
  • 3–7+ years of relevant experience practicing insurance coverage litigation, with a demonstrated track record of representing insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills, with the ability to draft clear, persuasive coverage opinions, motions, and pleadings, and to synthesize complex legal and factual issues across a wide range of policy types and litigation scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills, including the ability to provide timely, strategic advice to insurer clients, manage expectations, and foster trust with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, capable of independently managing a litigation docket while also collaborating closely with colleagues, including partners, associates, and support staff, in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work setting, handle multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of responsiveness and accountability.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Washington
  • Familiarity with insurance policy interpretation, coverage principles, and claims-handling standards
Position Details for Insurance Coverage Associate (Full-Time, Permanent or Temp-to-Perm):
  • Type of role: Permanent or Engagement with willingness to transition to a permanent full-time role based on performance.
  • Schedule: Full-time
  • Location: Hybrid (3-4 days a week in downtown Seattle office)
Compensation
The annualized compensation for this position on a full-time basis ranges from $136,000 to $180,000 or more. Pay is based on numerous factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials and location. In addition to salary, during the engagement/contract period, Latitude Engaged Professionals may be W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan. Benefits-eligible Latitude employees receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D and professional liability insurance. Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
