Latitude Continues Nationwide Growth by Opening Office in Boston, Turo to Lead Office

Latitude, a national legal services company specializing in high-end flexible legal talent for corporate legal departments and law firms, has opened an office in Boston. This new office, as well as the opening of an office in Austin, is part of the company’s national growth plan and follows openings in Indianapolis and Miami last year.

“More and more legal departments and law firms are using flexible legal talent to deliver legal services, and our ability to provide that talent is fueling our growth,” said Latitude CEO Ross Booher. “The tech, healthcare and financial services industries are major drivers of that change, and given our roster of former in-house counsel and Big Law attorneys with sophisticated experience in those areas, Austin and Boston are natural new office locations.”

Joe Turo, Jr., who will direct Latitude’s Boston office, was most recently the deputy general counsel of Boston-based global investment management firm Loomis, Sayles & Company, which manages more than $350 billion in assets. Latitude’s partners and recruiters have all served in highly demanding legal department and Big Law roles.

“We are thrilled that Joe is joining our team as he has exactly the background to best serve our clients and the top tier legal professionals we provide. He brings a deep understanding of their specific priorities, goals and pressure points as he has been in those roles himself,” Booher added.

Turo began his legal career as an attorney at global law firm Ropes & Gray in Boston where he was a member of the corporate and investment management practice groups. He was then assistant general counsel with FleetBoston Financial and its successors before joining Loomis, Sayles & Company. Turo earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a bachelor’s degree, with high honors, from Providence College.

He joined Latitude because of the unique opportunities the company provides its clients and candidates.

“There are many attorneys, law firms and legal departments seeking what Latitude provides,” Turo said. “Experienced attorneys want substantive work with sophisticated clients, in addition to flexibility and excellent compensation, and law firms and legal departments want quick access to high-end legal talent on a flexible basis. Latitude ‘s track record of finding high-quality legal professionals allows us to offer a win-win solution.”
